How to clean cork grip on lure rod?

Cork is porous;do not soak it in water.Clean gently to avoid wearing or crumbling the cork.

Daily quick‑clean(after every fishing trip)

1.Peel off the reel.Mask reel seat and blank with masking tape,prevent water and dirt getting into metal parts.

2.Use damp micro‑fiber cloth or baby wipe,wipe sweat,dirt,salt residue off cork surface.For salt‑water fishing,wipe away salt crystals especially.

3.Blot water with dry towel.

4.Place horizontally in cool,ventilated area,air‑dry completely,away from direct sunlight and high‑temperature heat.

Deep clean(for dark stains,every 1‑3 months)

1.Mix warm water+tiny amount of mild dish soap.

2.Soft sponge rub cork in circular motions,light pressure only.Do not scrub violently.

3.For stubborn black stains:use damp magic eraser(melamine sponge),squeeze nearly dry,rub lightly.Too much pressure will sand away cork material.

4.Wipe soap fully off with clean damp cloth.No soap residue left,residue attracts more dirt later.

5.Towel blot moisture,air‑dry for several hours until 90%dry.

If pits and holes appear on old cork:you can fill them with cork filler before sealing.

Protect after cleaning(optional but recommended)

Once fully dry,apply thin layer ofcork sealant(U‑40 Cork Seal).

-Apply very thin coat,wipe off excess after 1 minute.

-Let cure fully.It blocks sweat,dirt and salt from sinking into pores,slows blackening and wear,while keeping natural grip feel.

Hybrid cork‑EVA handle note

Clean cork section as above.Wipe EVA part with soapy water;EVA can tolerate more water,just dry it.

Summary:Wipe after every use,deep‑clean with mild soap when dirty,air‑dry in shade.Thin sealant greatly extends cork‑grip service life.
