Can surf casting rod catch carp in freshwater?

Surf casting rods can technically catch carp in freshwater reservoirs and large lakes,but they are not purpose‑built carp rods.They are capable of landing big carp,yet they bring noticeable drawbacks in handling comfort,bite feedback and fish‑fighting performance.Many shore anglers use surf‑casting gear as a substitute when targeting distant carp,especially in wide open water where extremely long casting distance is required,though compromises must be accepted during actual fishing.
